Thanks all for the advice. Ended up ditching the remote master cylinder in favour of an on handlebar standard set up, and had to re hone the slave cylinders and give them a good clean - seems to have worked fingers crossed!

Hydraulic Full Width Front Brake

I have been attempting to use a hydraulic instead of the usual brake for my late VH. Since I hate the look of the brake reservoir and the master cylinder I have sourced a cable operated master cylinder from a moped, and hiding it behind the headlamp inside the cowling. I am having MASSIVE problems g...

Hi Ian, When I restored the forks on my '57 VH, I had to cut the lower bush off to get the nut to loosen (My dad actually recommended I do this). The lower bush is effectively sandwiched on to the stanchion by a small collar on the inside of the bush (see Photo) DSC00979 (1024x768).jpg If you carefu...

If you are replacing the lower bush the easiest thing to do is to VERY carefully using a hacksaw cut the bush close to the nut, as there is a lip on the bush approximately 1/16th of an inch thick. This will release the pressure on the nut without damaging the stanchion or burring it if you gently ho...

Mike, Peter James will insure your huntmaster on its frame or engine number if you haven't got it registered, and they do let you bolt on modern bikes. Last year i was paying £160 per year for my VH (still not finished) and a zx6r ninja. It is a very cost effective way of insuring modern bikes

I use a full face AGV helmet with a flip down sun visor inside the main, which is very useful for those of us who do not wear glasses and don't have reactalites. If i did more continental stuff i'd probably go for a flip front type (to stop having to take it off through customs)

I would be very interested to see the accident statistics, the amount of young kids being irresponsible on 50cc scooters or 125cc bikes with L plates on in my area is massive. Several have nearly ended up as ornaments on my bonnet and I make sure I pay attention to bikers being one myself!

Burgess Air Filter for a VH

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone would be so kind as to send me a paper template showing where abouts the hole for the carb rubber for a VH air filter should be. I have a filter for a VB (I think) and i need to cover the hole and recut another (or if someone needs a convenient swap?!) I hope someone can ...
