NH 1951 Flywheel Thrust Surfaces

Gents I managed to get my crank apart this morning, and the big end is well worn, but evenly on the inner race with a raised lip in the space between the roller rows. The thrust faces on the inside of the flywheel had shims on either side. The drive side thrust surface looked machined and the timing...

Re: Ariel 1951 NH cam bushings

Thanks Leejm

But I will make them up from some bearing bronze I have lying around. The postage to Australia might be more expensive than the bearings themselves.

Hang on to them, as soon as you get rid of stuff you will need them.

Thanks again

Cheers

Ariel 1951 NH cam bushings

Guys I just measured my engine and timing case cam bushings. They are oval and range between .752" to .756" inside diameter with the timing case one in worst shape. The cam itself is not the best. Drags have already supplied me a reconditioned one so that is sorted. My question is what mat...

Re: Layshaft bushes for 1st and 2nd gear 1951 CP

Thanks Greg

These ones are worn beyond recognition and were spinning in the gears themselves.

Layshaft bushes for 1st and 2nd gear 1951 CP

Gents I stripped the CP gearbox on my 1951 NH and besides requiring welding and reconstruction on the outer case, I thought the innards would be okay as it changed gears before I stripped it. Besides the incorrect output sleeve bushes being too sloppy I noticed the 1st and 2nd gears had what appeare...

Re: Rear stand spring fitting.

Hey Guys

I just attached the spring to the stand and the frame first and then easily pushed the stand onto the frame. I think there is a video on DRAGANFLY's website? The stubs on the frame that the stand pivots on retain it until the bolts go on.

Re: 1951 NH crankcase damage

Guys

Decided on making a 3/8 x 1/4 Whitworth stud and get rid of the bolts for the sump altogether. Used an existing 10mm stainless bolt and reduced the shank to 3/8" and carefully machined the 1/4" reduced shank.
