I agree with Nev it's not going to work to much oil going around to keep the chain alive, without oil the chain is lasting 2000 km.
A small (magneto) chain would work much better.

I wouldn't have a problem doing that.
It's working with footrests and brake paddles so why not with this.

This engine is forsale at Yesterdays, as you can see it's differend.
I think it's 1902-1903 of a tricycle with the engine behind the axel like the one in the Beaulieu museum but you can put it in a 2 wheelerframe.

The magneto sprocket is in the way of seeing 4 bolts under the crank that's where the 2 gearbox was bolted.

That's an Ariel 2-3/4 HP tricycle engine, i think 1900-1901.
What are the numbers?

The Minerva engines have a wider crankcase so theire hanging in clamps so you need to know the engine mounting distance wich don't have as i sold all frames.
