Hi Danny, this just might be OK, please can you measure the distance from centre of the little end to the top of the piston that will confirm if its what I am after, if you cannot do that the distance from the top of the inside of the little end hole to the top of the piston will be good enough for ...

I am looking around for a good condition (new preferable) 86.4mm piston any oversize for a short stroke 500 Red Hunter 1934 (one year only), the Hepolite reference can be either 4173 or 41360. Are there out there?

Yes you should drop the piston weight back to the weight at which the bike was originally balanced to, if the bottom end is original, back to the weight of an original VB piston is good. Having said that you piston is not much over weight so won't make a massive difference to the vibration. You can ...

Oh yes; I have found reverse electrolysis is the key to cleaning rusty tanks. You need a 12v DC supply (battery charger works fine) fill the tank to the top with water mixed with soda crystals. Then one line on the body of the tank and the other onto an anode (any old bit of steel will do) carefully...
