Re: ‘04 Ariel
Two lovely bikes! I'd find room for either of them. Interesting that both have the rotating barrel Brown and Barlow carburettor that was patented early in 1906, and that the French bike has the Components fork that would usually be seen on the lightweight bikes. The VMMC Register lists some engine n...

Re: ‘04 Ariel
According to "Yesterdays antique Motorcycles" there is a 1904? heavy rearcam Ariel in New Sealand, they where in the proces of buying when the owner died, the family didn't want to sell to them anymore. So there is a opportunity. I'll ask my New Zealand friends, but the shed is bulging wi...

Re: ‘04 Ariel
I fell in love with this bike when I saw it in the First VRTJ in the 1970s. I still love it... I wonder is it correctly dated? This model - complete with the new Druid fork and the new Brown and Barlow rotating barrel carb - was still in the Ariel catalogue in 1907-8, and since this example is fitte...

Re: 1930 B
K is the prefix for the 1930 heavyweights, including the 557cc side valves. The ebay photos seem to show the K prefix. I'd be asking the seller if there is a log book or other docs to indicate the original numbers.

Re: 'George Formby's TT Rainbow'
Now we're making look-alikes of TT-bike look-alikes! That's a new one. "This is an accurate reproduction of the TT winning Rainbow, using a correct Ariel Red Hunter..." Like most TT look-alikes, this one is not very convincing - the cylinder head for example. Not so accurate after all. Che...

Re: CO engined W/NG
I like the bit " To Full Works Spec !!!" - it's a real catch-cry these days. Somehow we've moved into the age where vendors can say whatever they like, evidence or not. I wonder if the "indented tank" tells us something about the front fork, or maybe the combination of the front ...

Re: RH at H&H auction
I looked up the engine and frame numbers as quoted for this bike. They match and the bike left the factory on 29/4/30. Interestingly, it was a Model B sidevalve !!! Please excuse my ignorance, but I don't get what's going on here. Neither the engine (crank case) nor frame on this bike are 1930 Mode...

Re: 1948 VCH
Interesting. Excuse my ignorance, but I don't quite get what's going on here. The Draganfly list has 1950 VCH frame numbers as having prefix "COM or AB". Does this mean there were two different frames offered for the VCH in 1950? Or something else? As well as 1950 VCH, Drags has AB for 195...
