With new year almost upon us I think I can now put this thread to rest and thank all the people who have contributed along the way. Been playing with the carburation since the original post. I know a concentric is supposed to run with downdraft but out of frustration I made up a manifold to set it level this seems to have made the starting easier. The bike now starts, ticks over well, pulls at bottom end well but as it gets onto...

Same sentiment as Colin Peck, if you are a maker and doer you will wonder how you could live without one, get as larger lathe as you can, screw cutting if possible and a vertical table for simple milling operations.

Just had the same issue, after lots of checking parts I found the spring behind the plunger had fractured. I have no experience of Burman gearboxes and it was not until I compared it with another box that I realised that whilst the plunger was still operating it was not positive enough. Worth checki...
