1938 Ariel square four crank main bearing end float
I am just about to sort out the end float on both crankshafts --Could someone tell what the end float should ideally be.

1938 SQUARE FOUR ENGINE PLATES
Can someone help----Should there be washers under the nuts on the engine plate fixing bolts--if so should they be spring washers or flat washers.

1938 ARIEL SQUARE FOUR SPEEDO FITTING
Could someone please help with the following question ---- Should there be a rubber gasket between the speedo and the chrome panel, as looking under the speedo outer body flange is a small formed channel that looks like it is there to take a gasket.?

FITTING SQUARE FOUR ENGINE INTO FRAME
What is the best approach to fitting the heavy engine into the frame without scratching the new paint. As a fully assembled engine is very heavy I have built it up as far as just block and crankcase with a view to assembling the rest (ie head, primary case, mag, etc.)when I get it fitted into frame....

1938 Ariel square four crank main bearing end float
I have just assembled newly ground crankshafts into the crankcase which has had fitted new main roller bearings and new main plain bearings, presently the end float is zero and I therefore need to fit shims, does anyone know what the correct end float on the cranks should be ?

Dear Roger, Thanks for your reply, The engine has the standard original pump and I am fitting Dragonfly type oil filter.---Regards Ralph
