Re: New member - looking for spares.

Well, thanks to Paul I have the sliding member, spring and cap ready to be cleaned up and installed. Thanks again mate! I’ve picked up a new spring (ordered before)and tab washer from Drags, and an order in with ACME for the nuts, so we should be good to go! Spent the last weekend rebuilding the BSA...

Re: New member - looking for spares.

When you get to the brakes, it might be worth getting the drums skimmed. I would expect the braking surfaces to be a 'little out of round' by now. Existing shoes can be re-lined by Villiers Services. Every little helps..... :) You’re right there Julian! Think I’m gonna need every bit of braking pow...

Re: New member - looking for spares.

Looks mostly period BSA . 250 3 sp gearbox .Rather small brakes. . Quite light in weight. Nev You’re right there Nev, very light weight. The brakes are terrible at the moment, so definitely need a once over and service, but I doubt they will improve that much. My bicycle has better brakes currently...

Re: New member - looking for spares.

I have a slightly worn sliding member, spring and cap (but no nuts) which would probably cope perfectly well with the power of the 250. You might get a better one at the AGM and I can take this one to the AGM for you so you can compare what is available. I don't have a spare valve lifter assembly b...

Re: New member - looking for spares.

Hi Paul, I have no idea about that actually, as I wasn't aware he owned it until it was handed down to me. It was setup to run on methanol, hence the shaved fins, but not in a complete state. my plan is to leave it is close to this as possible, but convert back to petrol to use it as a daily rider i...

Wanted - 1936 LG250 single engine damper assy/sliding member, and valve lifter assy.

Hi all, I am looking for the full engine damper assembly for a 1936 LG250 single, or mainly just the sliding member (I think its 1272-30?). Draganfly seems to be out of stock for new replacements, so hoping someone has a 2nd hand one readily available. If the rest of the assembly (spring, spacer, ca...

Re: New member - looking for spares.

Thanks Tony. Already a member on FB and been directed here - but took a while for me to join! Yeah i've been scouring Draganfly and trying to figure out what I need, but looks like the main sliding member that I would need for thsi year (1272-30??) is out of stock, as well as the valve lifter/decomp...

New member - looking for spares.

Hi all, New member, and new owner of an Ariel/vintage bikes in general. I'm Charlie, and I recently inherited an Ariel/BSA build from my Grandad Brian Ferris after he passed away. Its a bit of a mash up with a '36 LG250 motor in an early 30's BSA frame (I think B32, not sure). I'll whack a few pictu...
