Re: Insurance Time Again (new + classic)

Just for the record, Bennetts will ask you if you are a member of any clubs and AOMCC is on their list. However, it makes no difference to your premium, as I suspected. Why bother asking then?

Insurance Time Again (new + classic)

I'm sure it's been covered before but didn't have much success with the forum search. I've just acquired my first Ariel and it happens to be close to my insurance renewal date. I had it added on to my current insurance (Bennetts). I have a Triumph Street Triple and the Ariel Huntmaster I've just bou...

Re: Ammeter not reading.

For what it's worth, ammeters aren't voltage-specific. I reckon on setting Lucas control boxes to around 7.2v. Yes, actually that's true isn't it regarding ammeter being independent of voltage. Are you referring to the charging voltage being 7.2v? I don't think this bike has a Lucas regulator and n...

Re: Ammeter not reading.

:) Right I've just had another look at it in better light and the sub-panel can be unscrewed from the main headlight housing. However, It can't be pulled out from beneath the yoke and headlight unless I unbolt the headlight and drop the loom down. However, as I'm not messing with the light switch it...

Re: Ammeter not reading.

Here you go. That's a repro ammeter - original ones don't have the clamp bracket, but are retained by tabs on the rim as has been said. Yes that looks like mine (or at least the subpanel shape looks correct. On mine it doesn't look like a separate panel but, like you say, it might have been painted...

simon.holyfield wrote: Mon Oct 09, 2023 8:37 am The ammeter and the switch lives in a separate panel, retained by three screws - one is visible ahead of the ammeter. It's possible your headlight was painted with the panel in place.
Have you got a picture of it on your bike please Simes?

Re: Ammeter not reading.

Ian In your situation probably best to take the headlight out first (the single screw at the top will loosen the retaining clip and the headlight will come off with the rim - might need a bit of gentle persuasion, but the rim comes off from the top first). You can then get a fairly good look at the...

Re: Ammeter not reading.

Here you go. The light switch sits underneath the speedo on the top of the headlamp housing. Doesn't have the panel like the newer Huntmasters.
