Thanks for your replies, I agree with Simon if there is no clear right or wrong It looks best with the flange outside.

Can't make up my mind if the light goes in from the front with the flange visible or from behind hiding it, any ideas

My engine is being refurb at T & L near Bedford and they offered to dynamically balance the crankshaft assembly for me and want to know what balance factor to use. I've seen some old posts on this subject where 65% was mentioned. Anyone know any better? Also struggling to get an oil pressure gau...

Would the rims have been chrome or painted black? They are black painted at present, I scraped a bit back and came to a grey primer colour, no sign of chrome.

Just got my 1951 KH500 fully dismantled for restoration and found that beneath the black paint on parts appear to be a deep blue colour such as the ammeter/light switch casing, wheel rims and brake lever. Is this likely to be original or done by past owners? I thought this machine which I am told ca...

Thanks to Rob Jameson I split the crankcase to check the sludge trap. It was packed tight with sludge from end to ènd no way could any oil get to thd big ends if I had not done this job.

Thanks that must be what mine is just a month later. Frame no SE 504 and Engine no TE 639C.

Thanks for that that mine has the BA gearbox so presume it' was originally like the 1951 model shown, it was registered in Dec 1951.
