Re: GB Gearbox Oil Leak
Just had a go at doing what I said above...NOW I can the problem. There is no flange to speak off is there. Anyway, I fitted a tiny fibre washer on the gearbox end of the drive and a tiny O ring on the cable side of the coupling shaft...It might work, but probably just help a small amount. I'll let ...

Re: Restoration Tip
Hi Tony..Sorry only just noticed your reply to me. Thanks for that. I know what you mean though, I've had that sort of thing myself...Nothing more irritating than when someone thinks you know nothing and only their view is correct. Currently I have troubles with a nearly finished Matchless. I have t...

Re: GB Gearbox Oil Leak
Put me down as another sufferer of this problem. I thought the crankcase filter plate or primary chain case was leaking but leaving it laying over on the side stand revealed the oil was leaking from the gearbox and along the drive cable for whence it dripped.. I haven't removed the fixing yet but I ...

Re: Clutch Pressure Plate Lifting Unevenly
Come on guys You simply sit on the bike side saddle and look down through the clutch, pull in the clutch you can kick the clutch outer pressure plate over and watch it rotate , screw in and out every spring until the pressure plate runs true, all ways works with me. Neil, I'm amazed you think we do...

Re: VH Wheels: Spokes and Offset. FULL width Hubs
Thanks Mick, that's a good idea of getting the supplier to drill the hole/s. I have to say I'm a little worried now that I didn't fit the bolt on the Dommi rim, I'll have to keep an eye on the valve stem so I'll leave the securing ring nut loose. I have to say I hate fitting tyres with rims that hav...

Re: Clutch Pressure Plate Lifting Unevenly
Maybe the springs are in some way different. Maybe one is a heavier gauge one slipped in by the seller. All basic stuff but worth repeating perhaps. Take them all out and also remove the cups. Check obviously the spring gauge, the amount of turns, and the lengths, they should all be identical. Then ...

Re: VH Wheels: Spokes and Offset. FULL width Hubs
Thanks very much to both of you Mick and Roger. The additional off-set distance from brake side edge is useful as I'm not sure if my original rear rim is not set over to the left as I can't seem to get the back mudguard to appear in line with it, but as thought, just getting it set equally in relati...

Re: Restoration Tip
Thanks Tony...Only just seen your message to me. that's interesting I'll do some searching . I do know of one fairly local firm that says that they do stove enamelling on their ad but in reality they say they only do powder coat. Will search further and thanks again...Les

VH Wheels: Spokes and Offset. FULL width Hubs
Just to say I have searched for previous Q & As on this but nothing conclusive. The bike is a 1959 VH (REAR Full width alloy hub and W2 rim) Question 1) Were the original spokes single butted (hub end)? Question 2) Offset...Do I just build the wheel rim equi-spaced (centralised) to the hub flang...
