Re: Ariel Riding and Fixing 2023
Thanks Steve(s), this information is so useful especially for those us who are not naturally electrical. I also have a sparkless Panther which will be the guinea pig for my first foray into electronics. I've recently read "The Perfected Motorcycle" by Nick Adams and was impressed how his b...

Re: Ariel Riding and Fixing 2023
Steve, do you have to remove the magneto from the bike to fit the Thorspark? I bought a Huntmaster a few years ago with a Thorspark already fitted and it always started first or second kick, hot or cold. Whilst I agree that a good magneto is the preferred option, I have several bikes in desperate ne...

Re: Ariel Riding and Fixing 2023
The pre crossflow Ford engine was marinised and marketed by Watermota as the "Sea Wolf", "Sea Otter" and "Sea Tiger" usually fitted in Freeman cruisers. They also converted the crossflow engine (with Ford's approval) to diesel and called it the Sea Panther, almost unhea...

Re: Sturmey Archer Kickstart spring for VB31
Hello John, I was concerned about the availability of gearbox parts but Geoff told me that the Sturmey Archer box was used on several other makes. I'm not far away, near Frampton on Severn and have a VB31, all original and frequently used if you're up this way and want to compare notes. I also have ...

Re: 'Chevals' to go..
I didn’t expect much interest in the old magazines, I’m a member of several bike clubs which all send me several kilos of glossy paper every year, far too much to keep. This batch will be going into the incinerator on Monday unless….

1931 VB
There's a nice VB on car and classic. I was tempted but I already have one and two would be silly, wouldn't it?.

Re: magneto rotor removal
If you use Google and search for Lucas MO1 there are several videos showing the magneto being stripped down. I've no desire to strip a magneto but it all looks pretty straightforward.

'Chevals' to go..
I have copies of the club magazine from 1989 to 2021 all in good condition and neatly bound in club binders. I'd like to pass these on in their entirety and completely FOC to anyone who would like to collect them from 8 miles south of Gloucester.

Re: VB Steering Stem
Thanks for both the helpful replies. Now I know what the leather rings are for I'll leave them out until I find suitable replacements. After looking at the photo of the damper rod, I'm going to make a new brass replacement for mine. The hole that the spindle passes through is actually egg shaped and...
