Re: Gearbox and footrest spacers on swingarm single.

Keith, thank you that is good to know on both points. Unfortunately Drags are out of stock of spacer 5385-54. I am restoring a bike that was not much more than a frame with an engine and gearbox in boxes so I am now discovering how many small parts I am missing. The four front frame stud spacers are...

Gearbox and footrest spacers on swingarm single.

On the gearbox pivot bolt for a swingarm single are the two spacers the same width? Secondly, for the footrest tie bar (for splined-type footrests) is there a spacer between the frame footrest mountings ? There seem to be spacers all over the place (!) around the engine and frame but I am not clear ...

Re: Oil tank blocked pipe

Mick,

Thanks for your reply. Judging by the sludge in the tank I should imagine that the pad is well and truly blocked. I can't see new pads listed by Drags.

Re: Oil tank blocked pipe

Simon, Many thanks that explains a lot. To test that the pad passes oil I am going to invert the tank and fill the pipe with oil to see if it passes through the pad. Failing that I might try using a syringe to add a bit of back pressure (gentle!). Is it essential to have a working chain oiler? I use...

Oil tank blocked pipe

I have a pipe on my singles oil tank that appears to have been blocked deliberately with something that feels like a wooden bung! As the bike is still being assembled I have no idea what the pipe is for and why it would have been blocked off. The pipe is the small one seen in the second photo and go...

Re: Clutch push rod length 1954 VH500

Well I purchased some friction plates with modern material just to make sure the clutch would work. They needed a bit of fettling to fit the clutch basket and after that the clutch works fine on the bench i.e. the rod now moves correctly with one ball bearing in the set up. I am still determined to ...

Re: ‘56 FH - distance piece under the gearbox

Well your loss is my gain! Mick's photo shows me how the centre stand springs fit. With no gearbox in place I could not work out where the springs located. That picture is worth a thousand works to quote someone.

Re: Clutch push rod length 1954 VH500

Thanks Will. Presumably, you left out a plain plate as well so that plain plates did not come into contact with one another? I have done the springs up tight and there is already evidence that the corks are flattening. However, not enough to fit all three friction plates at the moment so I will give...
