Re: How LOUD????

Hi Martin I have a twin pipe Armour's system so can't compare like with like, also I live and ride in a rural area so don't experience reflected exhaust noise very much. If your pipes are bluing I'd advance the ignition a bit and see what effect that has, (probably not a lot on the noise level), an...

Re: How LOUD????

Hi Nev You may be right. I haven’t strobed the ignition yet, so it may be firing too late/a bit retarded - I have my suspicions! Pipes are slightly blue and gold down the first 6inches or so from the headers. It starts first/second kick every time and ticks over really well - so it may not be miles ...

How LOUD????

Hoping to hear from the excellent FH experts (Mick D - please take a bow)…. Having run around the local area in ever increasing circles to test drive and shakedown my Huntmaster, I cannot believe how loud the exhaust note is!! I’ve got a Feked 2 into 2 set of ‘normal’ exhausts fitted. Rang them and ...

Re: Electrical question

Thanks chaps. Wires swapped and ammeter now does what your ones all do! I’ve photo’ed the ammeter with full beam on, so (Mick) as you say about 7/8 of the way over to -ve. Seems like that’s sorted. Johnny - can I ask what LED bulbs you’ve purchased? The yellow anaemic glow from the current 35w headl...

Electrical question

Hi Forgive the possibly dumb questions, but here goes! When I switch on the lights (on my FH), the ammeter shows far right deflection - all the way over to +ve. When I run the engine on idle, no movement. When I rev it a bit, it wobbles between neutral and -ve (goes about half way over - not full de...

Re: Exhaust gold/blue - ignition timing?

Thanks Mick - possibly forgot a useful bit of information: I bit a bigger bullet and went electronic, so I (supposedly simply…) set the BTDC, and line up the trigger rotor with the sensor that ‘pings’ the box of brains and tells it to blast a coil or two. The sensor can be manually rotated earlier o...

Exhaust gold/blue - ignition timing?

Fettling is coming along nicely. My lovely FH idles well and rolls gently up as I open the throttle. It tends to spit a bit and stop itself, but starts again first kick - now I’ve figured out what’s on/off/ what’s 1/4 throttle etc. if I run it faster and then drop back to idle, unless I’m careful, i...

Re: All the FH a hard work pays off

Thank you Karol That’s a real compliment coming from you! I’ve watched your square four posts with increasing amazement at the brilliant job you are doing on that. I wish I could offer some answers to the questions you ask, but you are WAY ahead of anything I can do as an engineer! Keep going and ke...

Re: FH wet sumping volume?

Thanks Rob The little one in its own gallery on the right hand case? It was stripped out and cleaned during the rebuild. It could be that it’s not working at all/properly. As you say, though, getting at it would require deep surgery. I’m not sure I’ve got the stomach for that again - I’d rather ride...
