Re: WE furbishment

What sort of a job has your painter done? I am re-assembling a bike for the widow of a good friend who had it painted. Trouble is, the painter blasted the rust and old paint off first so there is blast grit in everything and the grit is painted in in places. The paint work is excellent but unless I ...

Re: 1936 cammy air filter

I had a batch of these made nearly 20 years ago now. All were sold long ago. You need an original pattern to work from, otherwise you may well find that you can't get the carb on with the cover fitted. They are not difficult to make, being the cup you can see, a ring to screw onto the carb and 3 str...

Re: Grandfathers Bike

The EPG series of number was issued between October and November 1936 so we can assume this number was issued sometime in November 1936. That makes the bike a 1937 model year bike, built in 1936 as the new model year started in the autumn of the previous year (usually at the beginning of September) ...

Re: Ariel identification and hi from a new menbrr

Hello Carl. Your bike started life as a 650cc twin Huntmaster! It was sold by a London dealer. The bike your engine came from went to a dealer in Worcester. Given that a great deal of change has taken place with the machine, you might like to check that there is a head stud between the rocker boxes ...

Re: Ariel identification and hi from a new menbrr

Hello Carl and welcome to the club. I recognise the bike which used to appear at AOMCC rallies in the 70s and 80s. Your engine and frame numbers don't match but the engine is one of the last VHs built, the final number being CAMB 1911. A lot of people preferred the old fashioned headlamp to the cowl...

Re: WE furbishment

The paint I have used for some time now is Plasti Kote spray black from B & Q and such places. It gives a good gloss finish and will stay that way on the cylinder for several years. It does tend to thin out on the head after a time but the quick solution is to spray some into a cup then paint it...

Re: Devon Rim / Central Wheel

I have used Devon for a long time as their rims are better than any others I have met. On my order for my rigid / girder Square four they sent the wrong spokes so I pointed out the error and asked for the correct ones. Eventually they sent the correct ones for the rear wheel but refused completely (...
