Re: Float height or Fuel Level in a Concentric

Nice jig - you have clearly put some effort in!
My carb is a 626 / R8
I'll try and rig something so I can demonstrate mine but tbh I've got more pressing work to do with my Morris Minor so might be a while...

Re: Float height or Fuel Level in a Concentric

I think that because, at 15 deg., the pivot is higher than the float it is impossible to get it to seat properly without the float touching the roof of the chamber. That's not the case. If you look at my post on the first page of this thread, the Concentric is mounted at 15 deg. on my Gold Star, an...

Re: Float height or Fuel Level in a Concentric

I also had very poor running with a new concentric on my NH and ended up going back to a mono-block. At first I thought there might be a problem with the pilot jet - which is not accessible/removable (and to be fair, that might be true) but eventually I decided the main culprit was the fuel level. I...

Re: Amal Concentric on 1950 NH

Peter I run 32mm concentrics on my VHs without any float height setting problems. In fact concentric carbs my be inclined at up to 30 degrees and still operate correctly. So unless you have an incorrectly machined concentric, you should not have any problems. when the top of the float is set at .04...

Re: Amal Concentric on 1950 NH

Hi Brian, its the other way round - its running too weak and I want to raise the level. On the concentric the valve comes from below so there is no scope there. Also, as the pivot is at the high end, the float hits the top before it gets to the right height so not much scope for bending the tang. I'...

Re: Mk2 Needle Jets in Concentrics

Just out of interest - do you find the concentric runs a bit weak?

Peter - I think you can delete the posts yourself (with the 'X' symbol at upper right)?

Re: Amal Concentric on 1950 NH

Something has glitched - I''ve asked for the multiple replies to be deleted. In the meantime - I checked the concentric and, as the float needle is below the bowl the needle can only be lowered by adding washers - not raised which is what it needs. Think I'll raise it with Burlen to see if they have...
