The brakeplate looks like a WNG part. If the drum is 6½" diameter, it is a WNG part, and they had 36 spokes. If you measure the lenght of the front fork from the middle of the wheelspindle to the middle of the lower link spindle to be 450 mm, then the fork is also from a WNG. Normal Ariel fork...

Just checked the wheel and its definatly 36 spoke.
It has qualcast cast into the hub, can i asume that is not standard ??

Sorry but here comes another question.
Just started to dismantle the wheeis to replace the rims and have noticed i have 40 spokes on the rear
and 36 on the front is this normal.
