Re: Tank panel - dished washers?

I don't know if there should be one or not, but by the description and placement it sounds like a Belleville washer, and probably used to keep the mounting screws from loosening in use.

Oil pressure gauge.

Been offered an Ariel oil pressure gauge, the type where the needle pivots from the side rather than centrally. What years would this have been fitted to, and are there any reconditioners who could replace the less-than-perfect chrome bezel? Thanks.

Re: Rack wanted

Thanks Johnny, a civil reply...
Last time I tried Parkwood he didn't seem to be trading, but maybe that was just during the lock-down. I'll give him another go.

Rack wanted

Wanted, rear rack for a 1936 Red Hunter. I'm guessing any of the rigid singles racks would fit. Painting or repair not a problem.
Thanks.

Re: Vinegar to clean rusted tanks?

Best stuff I've used is the deruster sold separately as part of the POR15 tank sealing process.
Tried the electrolysis method and found that to be utterly useless.

Re: Fitting new valves and guides

In an ideal world it would be done with a reamer and then the valve seats recut with the guides in situ. However, while your method wouldn't be ideal it's likely perfectly satisfactory unless you intend riding the Americas Highway or somesuch mammoth journey? As you've lapped it "to a fit"...

For sale

I've rebuilt my 36 Red Hunter back to it's original 20" front wheel, so there's a pretty good set of galv spokes + nipples and a 19" black painted rim for sale. Spokes are 220 and 145mm long and have right angle heads. There's also a half set (twenty) of unused stainless spokes for a 20&qu...
