Whitworth tank bolts ?
My 1952 VH500 has petrol tank bolts 5/16" X 18tpi. To me this seems to be a BSW thread, which seems odd. The bike has not been used since 1960 and has very very few signs of being "messed about with" and it does not look like a bodge. I checked Drags lists but actual thread type isn't...

Re: B-TH magdyno
Thanks,
I'm getting my original mag back with bearing failure repaired next week. Its had a full rewind etc. recently, so hopefully it will perform Ok, but I think I start a saving up campaign for a B-TH for next spring.

Re: B-TH magdyno
An old thread, but I'm interested as to peoples experience of the B-TH (Alton) magneto. For my '52 VH. Has the "2 bolt hole" fixing proved to be a problem? Just having had bearing failure on the Lucas M01 I'm a bit disillusioned. I must have had about 10 bikes over the years with Lucas mag...

Re: VH Fork Stanchion Seal Leaks
Good news one the quality of Draganfly's fork tubes ! I spoke to Colin about the poor quality of ones I had recieved. He apologised and said they "have several suppliers" and he would see if he could get a better pair. He phoned me to tell me he had suceeded, saying something to the effect...

Re: Undoing G/box sprocket nut
Mine is not swing arm, but plunger frame.
The oil seal is accessible by removing clutch, primary casings and gearbox sprocket.

Re: Undoing G/box sprocket nut
I thought of that, but didn't have a spare bit of chain. And I'm sure I would have needed something stronger than that bit of box section.
The sprocket and its nut were a couple who had been together 69 years and clearly wanted to make it to a 70th anniversary. It was a shame to dissapoint them.

Undoing G/box sprocket nut
Partly following the plea for more use of the forum, but I was going to anyway! Stripping down the primary drive of my ''52 VH500 to do the gearbox output oil seal, all went well until I got to the gearbox sprocket nut. (A primary chain with no detatchable link in it ? Could it be the original?) I m...

Re: VH Fork Stanchion Seal Leaks
Rugged? One way of describing it.
Crudely made is the other when you can actually feel it.
