Re: Pre-war NH?

Morning. Many thanks to Alan for the simple ID info and Vincent for the photos. with this knowledge I now feel able to identity a correct frame. I've looked at a 'XG' frame that had no field stand lugs but I can now see that it is a military high clearance frame. I'll keep searching. Regards.

Re: Pre-war NH?

Hi Dave. I have spent some hours researching the early BSA factory records which are also in Engine number order, it can be a bit of a nightmare as the frame numbers are all over the place, you can spend hours looking for one frame number and finally find it many pages away from others in the same n...

Re: Pre-war NH?

Hi Will. I've had a look at the Draganfly website and it only seems to list the prefixes not the 1st & last serial numbers in each year range. The 'XG' prefix is shown as starting in 1938 for civilian bikes and for all of the wartime W/NG bikes. So, could someone give me an idiots guide to ident...

Pre-war NH?

Hi all. Being a newcomer to all things Ariel I sought the opinion of you knowledgeable folk on the 'claimed' 1947 NH350 but older looking bike, currently for sale with a dealer in Middlesex. (see for sale/wanted) The opinion was that it was a total 'bitza' with a frame number and registration that h...

Re: NH350 1947 ????

Hi John. Thanks for the link to its earlier ebay listing, that helps a lot! The seller has lifted a lot of the description used on ebay for his current ad, seemingly implying that it has come from someone he knows however, he failed to include the ' it was put together from parts' comment that was i...

Re: NH350 1947 ????

Hi Again. I've also noticed that according to the DVLA site, it is shown as manufactured in 1954 which would tie in with the frame number! Could it be stolen or a ringer? Has the frame number been ground off and re-stamped? If so, would there be any way of sourcing its original ID? Does anyone have ...

NH350 1947 ????

Hi All. As per my earlier post, I'm looking to purchase a pre-war sporting single and an Ariel is at the top of my wish list. I've just seen the claimed 1947 NH350 advertised by Motorcycles Unlimited with a 'KS' frame number prefix. I can only attribute this to a later swinging arm bike. It seems to...

New Member seeks advice before purchase

Hello all. I have just joined the Forum as I'm looking to acquire a pre-war sporting single and a Red-Hunter is near the top of my list. I had been looking at the example that was for sale at the 'Classic Bike Emporium' which looked good and, at a not unreasonable price and had been for sale for a w...
