Evening,
Paralell to building the Model A, i started collecting tools for the toolkit. Finding a prewar G1/59 5/6x3/8WW O/E Spanner though is proving elusive.
Plenty of postwar G1/59 are about though.
Can anyone help?

Re: 1928 Mod A/B restoration help needed
Welcome Ray. Lots of Black owners here. Lots of experience here aswell. Just ask as I’d be certain nothing cant be answered. Dave’s book is invaluable and I can recommend Charles Falco’s book “Ariel Chronicles” with extensive detail in dealing with his journey restoring a Black. Some of us by the wa...

Re: Pushrod tube seals
From my experience of the Draganfly supplied ones breaking the solder on the tube cups from being too long and too hard, they really only need to protrude the cups by less than a 1/16”. Fit the cut side inside the cups. The head should only be standing slightly off its location before tightening the...

Side Valve Cam Followers off centre dimension
Evening, Can anyone provide any sensible thoughts on how much off centre the side valve cam follow is to the tappet centre line? I dont know what normal looks like on my 28 557. I know a small offset is preferred in order to promote rotation of the tappet but my followers overhang approx 1/4 of the ...

Yes….some interpretation is required and to be honest, it comes down to what Paul said.
This is my take.

SV Black Ariel Exhaust Lifter
Evening….just a query to those 27-29 owners about the engine’s exhaust valve lift mechanism. I’m currently trial-assembling this mechanism into the timing case on my 28 SV and whilst I can get it all installed etc, there is only a tiny amount of lift. Notably though there isnt any contact wear on th...

Re: Headstock spanners
Its just the G1-55 spanner in the factory toolkit from 1927. I see them on ebay all the time often cheaply. a few seconds search…. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/256272150511?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=bT-Kl6j4QAK&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=qUiXUuvKT3a&var=&wid...
