Re: Speedo spindle
I meant to add that what I need is the same but for BA box with late layshaft. I think what you have is that. I am willing to do a straight swap.

Re: Iron 4G Head Question.

Re: Iron 4G Head Question.
The two iron 4G`s that I have worked on had cast iron guides not bronze. The first one I replaced the guides in bronze and may do the same with the second. I would personally use a press and a custom made stepped spiggot if they are really tight, rather than hammer blows to the same. Easy for you to...

Re: Burman BA Mainshaft Endfloat
Having spent some time recently wrestling with the rebuilding of my Sq4 BA gearbox, I am confused here. Why does the sprocket spacer have anything to do with mainshaft end float? Surely the mainshaft end float is controlled by the location of the mainshaft bearing and the length of the kickstart rat...

I know this subject has been done to death, but I have been given a can of commercial vehicle semi fluid grease for the automatic oilin...

Square 4 BA Gearbox problem.
The 1947 Square 4 I am building was about as dismantled as you can get. My current project - the gearbox was no exception, except extra parts were in the box to make life more interesting. However I have fully built the gearbox and it does work, engaging all gears and free in neutral, UNTIL I do a f...

Re: Gearbox and clutch questions
Our treasurer has kindly fixed me up with a set of correct springs and cups. Just for reference, my shorter cups are correct but the long springs although similar to look at are a much heavier version, being 1.75 inch long with 8 coils of 2.0mm dia. wire, whereas the correct spring is 1.625 inch lon...

Re: Gearbox and clutch questions
Thanks Paul, that is what I need to know. So the shorter shaft is from a single. You seem to infer then, that the springs like the longer cup I have are also from an inferior make, as when installed in the shorter cups, they poke out a long way! As for the main shaft, I am fairly confident it suits ...
