The two-stroke monobloc often has an angled spray tube in the jet block and different needle jets (with no cross-hole?), If you've been trying to get a two-stroke carb to run on a four-stroke engine it might be troublesome....

On a pre-1952 cylinder barrel, the barrel spigot won't fit the head (not without being ground to reduce the size anyway). :? I think the rubber that's being mentioned is the air cleaner side of the carb, shouldn't be much vacuum there unless something's blocked...
