Leader Panniers
I am toying with the idea of using a set of these Leader panniers that I can purchase to replace my soft throw over saddlebags. The twist is that I don't own a Leader, but a Square four and other assorted British bikes of the era. Are these a reasonable capacity for throwing a sleeping bag and other...

SU MC2 AUC605 Carb
I have the opportunity to hunt through a hoard of a mixed bag of old car SU carburetor's, from the 50's to 70's. While I know that there will not be a genuine MC2 as fitted to Square Fours and Triumph Thunderbird's, I was wondering what the appropriate bore size and features eg manual choke, are to ...

Sludge Trap
I have a had a fruitful couple of days on the 52 4G. Got the bottom end out and stripped down, plenty of evidence that the PO had just bolted it up ready to go, but what a mess! Big ends are on plus 30, all shiny and clean, looking totally unused, but a new rod that was fitted could only just be tur...

Re: Square Four gearing
I realise that I have not factored into the possibility that the 52 Square four rear sprocket may also have been modified.
Can any one tell me what the correct rear sprocket tooth count should be?
Thanks Leon

Re: Square Four gearing
Thanks David, an interesting observation.
I wonder what happened in the case of lower final gearing for sidecars, maybe it was just accepted that there would be speedo error?

Re: Square Four gearing
Yes the easy option is to leave it alone and see what the real world result is like. Typically I ride the open road, so charging around town will not be a significant issue.
In saying that the gearbox sprocket is a bit ropey and could do with replacement anyway!

Square Four gearing
I had an interesting day on the primary side of the 52 4G long term project. When I pulled everything down, I found several sprockets that had been welded and I assumed repaired, during this bikes long hard history. A tooth count showed that this has in fact been modified to give it significantly hi...

Re: Battery Carrier
Brilliant, Thanks for that!
Have checked and found them at Drags-Distance piece 6169-51
Looks easy enough to make something up, to do the job.
Regards Leon

Battery Carrier
For my 52 Square Four, I have just received a replica battery carrier from Draganfly. The top of my chaincase where the carrier mounts is approx 1 3/8 inches wide, and yet the carrier brackets are set up with a 2 inch spacings. Am I missing something here (eg. some spacers) or do I have some rogue c...
