Re: Ariel spotted near Dorchester

Beautiful machine Dave, Thanks for the photos. I’m jealous. You guys over there sure are lucky to be able to see so many old Ariel’s on the road. It’s a very rare event to see one anywhere on my side of the world let alone one going down the road.

1949 Sq4 Value?

Hi guys, I’m in need of some guidance to determine what my 1949 square might be worth on the trading block. I need the cash for another project so this one might have to go. It’s hard for me to determine its value because I just don’t see that many of them for sale for me to get a comparison. This o...

Thanks you guys, I'm still a novice and slowly learning my way around these Ariels. Glad I have this club to ask my questions at.

Doesn't look like a 1958 to me.

You guys know better than me but the photo in this article claims this bike to be 1958, but it sure looks like it has iron heads. Wasn’t 1948 the last year for iron heads?

So what's the deal with putting a Japan engine in a British bike? Are these new Ariel's going to be sold at the Honda dealerships?

Jason, For what it's worth, I had the same problem with mine. After chasing my tail for a while the problem turned out to be quite simply a dirty fuel filter.

I think he doesn’t chase the Triumph because it’s only one he can’t catch. :)

Barry, That dogs name is King and though he looks pretty dangerous he is really just a big puppy on the inside. The only bike I have that he doesn’t chase is a Triumph. So the tank is off a SQ4, at least it’s from the right model. I don’t plan on changing it any time soon but if I do find the correc...

Thanks for the kind words guys. I’m still looking for the correct front hub, fender, carb and fuel tank. Is this tank on there now off of a VH? If so any guesses about the year? I do know the front hub is off a BSA, but not sure about this tank.
