Re: Clutch buffer plate bolt

Thanks. So 1/4" cyclethread it is. As well as the rubbers, I have ordered the plates with the integral nut.

Clutch buffer plate bolt

Hi folks, Is anyone able to tell me what bolts I need to get to secure the clutch buffer plate (Drags part no 8X/M4) ? I presume it is cycle thread ? Drags ste says to modify another bolt (that they don't have in stock), but don't say what size it is. I live in a "metric' country, so find imper...

Re: E3LM Brushes

Thanks for the replies guys. Chris: I have refitted the old ones following burning the oil off them and they seem to work ok, which is good. I'm keen to have a backup though. Nev: The new brushes make a much darker line on paper than the old ones do - they are definitely softer. You may be able to s...

E3LM Brushes

Hi folks, can anyone point me to a supplier of decent brushes ? I bought the ones shown in the attached photo from a bike parts supplier here in N.Z. - they worked for about one hour before coating the armature in carbon. So, far too soft - absolutely useless.
Cheers, Bevan

Re: VB piston markings

Thanks Roger, I understand your explanation. I couldn't detect any significant side to side movement when I had the head off and, although I could see where the piston reached the top of its stroke, I couldn't feel any lip in the bore so I'll leave well enough alone :). Apart from my current oil pum...

VB piston markings

Hi folks, Another basic question - I haven't had need to remove the VB's barrel as yet, but when I took the head off some time ago, I found the the stampings 87 20 on the crown. I have no idea what make of piston it is. I presume that means it is +20 oversize, but puzzled about the 87 when the std b...

Re: Oil pump query

Thanks Paul, I'm new to Ariels so it is all a learning experience.

Johnny - I'd be tempted to buy a Morgo pump, but can't find one available anywhere - all sites I've checked so far say "out of stock"

Re: Oil pump query

Hi Paul, I had seen the service bulletin #125 that details that modification. If I understood it correctly, it seemed as if it would be necessary to drill some way into the copper pipe to get sufficient depth to locate the spring, which made me a bit uncomfortable. But I guess it is the next option ...
