Further carburation questions...

Hi All. I put a previous post on regarding excessive fuel consumption (which is still a symptom) but I have further symptoms/characteristics of this particular bike which may help with a diagnosis - (though still think a brand new carb might address everything). Today I went out on a run. The bike s...

Re: excessive fuel consumption...

Thanks Ian. I must admit that I haven't checked the (brass) float operation fully (though a visual inspection would indicate that it's sound, and no fuel inside it). As I have other carburation questions I'm going to start a new post - thanks again.

excessive fuel consumption...

Just a fuel-consumption question... my Arrow seems to go through petrol like it's going out of fashion. In the 200 miles I have put on it in the past couple of months of ownership, I have more-or-less filled up the tank three times (a total of around 8 gallons). This works out at around 25mpg!!! A 3...

A quick sixty mile run...

Hi all,

Taken advantage of a day off and continuing nice weather today. A sixty mile run around Wharfedale, Wetherby and Knaresborough - taking the backroads mainly. Stopped off for a pint of Sam Smith's at the Radcliffe Arms in Follifoot too. The little Arrow is running sweetly.

Re: Safe max revs between gears...

Hi Mike - thanks for the info. The bike is a 250. 7000 would sound a reasonable max revs figure for a standard road engine, as max power is at 6500. I wonder what revs a tuned one would be running at then? Though I have (much!) faster bikes in the garage, I do enjoy getting the most out of smaller b...

Safe max revs between gears...

Hi all. Got in a quick run on the Arrow this afternoon and, now I've put over 100 miles on it since buying, started to wind it up a bit more. The thing is that without a tacho, I really don't know how many revs it's doing. Looking at the gear ratios, and gleaning from the original handbook that each...

Re: 1960 Arrow colour question

Hi Jess, tried to PM you ref my Arrow, but don't think it worked/know what I'm doing, lol. As you'd identified OP's bike, I was wondering if you could poss find the time to do the same for my newly acquired machine? Matching numbers T 29134 T. If you could it would be very much appreciated - thanks,...

Re: Carburettor advice for performance

Hi. I don't have the answer, but was considering going down this route with mine at some point so will be interested in what advice might come up. Will be interested to hear what difference it makes to your bike.
