Re: Huntmaster Tyres
I put a pair of Avon Roadriders on my '57 Huntmaster. Very happy with them. I had a Speedmaster on the back and a piece of chineese rubbish on the front from when I bought the bike. One day I took a slow corner on a wet road and lost the front end. Cost me a gear lever and brused pride. I ordered a ...

Re: To torque or not to torque? That is the question.
I've only built a few motorbike wheels but I have built dozens of bicycle wheels. I would be a bit nervous about using greese on the nipples for fear of encouraging the spokes to loosen under load cycling. An old-timer trick with bicycle wheels was to use a small drop of linseed oil on the spoke thr...

Re: FH 650 running problems
Just a quick update to close off this topic for anyone interested or following this thread. I spent quite a lot of time checking timing, cleaning the carp, checking the float level, fuel flow etc, etc. Lots of runs with different needle clip settings, lots of plug chops, dusted off an old Colourtune...

Re: FH 650 running problems
I had the carb professionally rebuilt recently which included honing the slide bore and fitting a new slide. It's a good fit so I don't think there is an air leak past that. All the seals were replaced and the jets checked and replaced as needed and the front face skimmed. I can't remember exactly w...

Re: FH 650 running problems
I dropped the needle a notch and it's definitely no better, possibly a bit worse. Also it doesn't pick up as well as it did before when I open the throttle.

FH 650 running problems
I have a Huntmaster that starts and runs well. It pulls really well when accellerating and will run nicely at speed. But, at low speed it runs roughly. At about 20-30mph in 3rd or 4th gear it hesitates and judders like it's misfiring. It's difficult to describe but it sort of feels like your riding ...

Re: New carb for Huntmaster
Thanks for the response.
My next question is, should I sleeve it or replace the whole carb? Has anyone got experience of sleeving them ?
What else wears out on them apart from the main needle/jet ?
Pete

New carb for Huntmaster
Hi All, I have a 55 Huntmaster. It has the correct Monoblock with all the correct jets (according Amal) but it's not running too great. It's fine when the engine is pulling (accelerating or up hills) but at light loads (about 1/4 throttle) such as a steady 30mph it runs sort of rough and sort of jud...
