VCH valve guides.
Just replaced my valve guides as there was about 3.5 thou slop, on inspection I was shocked to see I had steel guides instead of bronze, I hadn't taken any notice of them when I did the last valve grind. Only problem with the steel valves they were tough to remove.

Take off the points cover and view the cam ring advance/retard movement in the magneto when moving the lever, I have seen issues where the cam ring is jammed or spring too weak and not returning leaving the the ignition fully advanced. I have mine set at 5/8" on full advance. (9:1 piston)

Thanks Paul, will have to look into the frame number CGM 1438 AND GEARBOX D542FC maybe that will get met the original engine number.

Just got a photo could be new cases were fitted and they transferred the serial number incorrectly, will try for a dating certificate.

Definitely CNAL clear as day frame is CGM, could be replacement crankcase maybe ex South Australian Police.

Maybe someone can shed light on my mates 1958 Sq4 engine number its prefix is CNAL, has anyone seen this prefix before, frame serial number is 58.

Good work Gary ready for a lap round Pukeakaurie, I assume to get club plates there you need to be a member of a vintage bike club. I Oz we don't have to get a regular warrant of fitness just a check by a club machine examiner.
