Re: Lockdown: Time for big service, changes and improvements of my SQ4

Over time (and PO) these have become different dimensions (metric, imperial) and have also aged. My recipe was to loosen these connections, to clean them (with brake cleaner) and then to treat th...

:!: After 3 days not a single droplet, not even after warming up, only a few drops of oil fell down when priming the Morgo. And much more when the pressure relief valve of the Morgo opened! Re: Lockdown: Time for big service, changes and improvements of my SQ4

HI Allen, The picture with the scales shows a BSA connecting rod as example. I got a bunch of new AOMCC con rods after one of my old ones got cracked (fatigue fracture ). IMG_20200520_193558.jpg And so I got the booklet that I have my knowledge of. In the excerpt from the booklet you can also read t...

Re: who put those circlips there ??

My story from Alzheimer land: I have a BSA A7 longstroke that runs well. But I also have a spare engine with partly good/better parts. Last year I scheduled an overhaul using the cylinders and cylinder head from the spare engine. When I opened the engine, there were no piston rings and no push rods....

Re: Lockdown: Time for big service, changes and improvements of my SQ4

Hi Allen, I followed exactly the AOMCC con-rod booklet (by Bruce Longman). Engine balancing AOCCM.png I weighed the con-rods and determined the proportion of the big end. Big end weigth.JPG Then I used strips of lead to simulate the determined weight. I tightened these strips around the crank pins a...

Lockdown: Time for big service, changes and improvements of my SQ4

I toke the chance (have now the time!) to make a total strip down of my SQ4 for revivising and improvments (hopefully!): IMG_20201216_151607 (Mittel).jpg IMG_20201216_151607 (Mittel).jpg Regrinding the crankshafts, added some Mallory Metal. Now all Bob weigths, all rods and all pistons equalized in ...
