Re: Help to work on Sq 4 engine
I Have thanks Vincent, and have had a reply from a member who is going to help me. I am able to do the work, just dont have the time! Unfortunately, when I bought the bike from a friend, he could not remember what had been done, so the all important crank oilway cleaning may or may not have been car...

Re: It's a new one but it rides like an old one
I think Beemer R100/7s are great value at the moment. I love the look of them without fairings and boxes etc.
Maybe a bit big for what you want, so I'd go with the 75!!

Help to work on Sq 4 engine
I have enjoyed my 4 piper this year, as a new purchase, but am worried about the sludge trap issue.
I dont have the ability to do the engine work, but can get it out of the frame.
Could you advise on firms/individuals who could strip and re-build the engine for me?
Thanks Tom.

Square Four screen/fairing
I am going to Europe (with my IDP!?) touring in June, and was hoping you might be able to share any experiences with a screen or fairing on a Sq 4. I have a period screen on my Harley, which doesnt fit on the Ariel, and am leaning towards a screen as opposed to a full fairing, just to take some of t...

Re: Cleaning out fuel tank of Sq 4
Mike I have used acetone to remove old tank sealant and old petrol gunge. It wont touch rust, but you should be able to rinse the worst of that out. It might be worth trying before the very comprehensive acid technique from RC. Acetone is not as dangerous as acid, but will lift paint very effectivel...

Re: rear rack/carrier for rigid frame machines
Thanks Vincent...do you take me for a cheapskate!! ;) I have some hydraulic steel pipe left over from another job, of those kind of dimensions, which is good quality tube and quite thin walled. But I have nothing to sleeve it with on the joint, which seems like a good idea of yours (or Ariels!). I h...

Re: rear rack/carrier for rigid frame machines
Vincent, please can you let us know the diameter of the tube you use for the racks, the wall thickness and same for the strengthening tube?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Spire Fastenings
Hi Mick they are used as a quick way of applying a fixing on panel work edges in place of more expensive forms of captive nut. So where it is hard/impossible to get at the back panel of an overlapping edge, they are commonly used. Over time the spring clamp part can lose its "spring", but ...

Re: Fork mods?
Thanks Keith. I wondered if that was the case.
I am still unsure over the basic design, because it would seem that there is less damping effect on extension than on compression, which I think is the wrong way round?
Again, I am probably missing something obvious!
