Its my opinion that the later rocker oiling works by crankcase depression,not by any pressure in the oil pipe...I think its aided by the frothed state of the return oil ,being very light,and moved by only slight difference in pressure.......The Norton pushrod singles have a similar system ,which see...

Its far more important that the fillet radius hasnt been damaged ,or reduced......a bad job may cause the crank to break....Forged steel cranks are far more prone to fatigue breakage than the nodular cast iron used in cars....in fact many car reconditioning shops dont worry about fillet radius ,beca...

At least with GPS ,it will be impossible for half the rally to get lost ,and end up in a pub ,unable to drive .

You d have to check the crankshaft drawings ......its quite possible the journals have been ground overwidth.......have a careful check of the radii and finish on the sides .......with shell bearing rods,the radii must be clear of the inserts....wheras with metalled in rods , thrust faces are normal...

The theory is that oil creates more drag than teflon/teflon friction......as with all the modern improvements,once they are worn ,they fail very suddenly......I recall some Macks had very heavy coated clutch cables ,maybe 1/2" dia internal wire........Anyway ,the instruction with them was to us...

By the way,dont substitute home made keys for special application keys ......the soft key will shear and spin the gear on the shaft .....best case scenario scored shaft ...worst case gear welds itself to shaft .

Anyway,others have reported success using on the various Loctite anerobic adhesives .....so I would think this would be my first method of eliminating any looseness in the drive ......I do know someone brought me a boat propshaft and coupling to remove the cutoff shaft ......the combination of rust ...

Thinking on it,the only instance of a smooth surface cylinder transmitting drive is the D Series Ford "suitcase gearbox",where the layshaft gears are fitted so tight keys arent used .......the layshaft is unservicable ,as pushing the gears off scores both shaft and gear bores.........I sus...
