Re: Float sticking

Another point - it's easy to mislay the little spacer that goes on the float spindle after the float is fitted. This lets the float bind on the cover. I also once had a problem with a Triumph unit twin where the mould line on the float was catching on the casing. Probably a defective pattern part, b...

Re: Float sticking

I always throw those nylon needles away as far as possible. The brass ones with the Viton tips work much better.

Available direct from Amal or (my favourite) Hitchcocks.

That's a lovely job. I take it the tools & skills are the ones you use in your "day job"?

Re: Adjustable mag sprocket

I've seen a picture of a tool for removing Norton mag sprockets that consisted of a lever bent into a U shape so that the short end of the U slips behind the sprocket and the longer end bears on the end of the spindle (with nut on a few threads). A sharp tap on this longer end then bounces the sproc...

Re: Arrow side prop stand

The proper prop stand is quite a good design (although slated by the original Motor Cycle road test for some reason). But it has to be fitted correctly - the PO of my Arrow had made a complete pig's ear of it. As Roger says, it's most unlikely you'd find an aftermarket one to fit as these generally ...

True, and there are many reports about how difficult some people find it to get their money back from the banks.

Re: Debit Card Fraud:

I doubt whether it's anything to do with contactless as there's a limit on transaction amount (usually £30). The likelihood is that one of the card readers in the petrol stations was compromised, although as you used it for online purchases as well that's also a possible source of the problem. But i...

Re: Classic Bike Insurance : A Rant.

That sounds very high. My premium with PJ is around £90 for the Norton (agreed value £6,000) and the Guzzi (agreed value £2,500).

I do believe that most of the brokers use Equity Red Star as the underwriters - PJ certainly do for mine.

Re: Ariels in Pughs auction 050518

Some of these were in their last auction but mustn't have sold.

I think Pugh's auctions are probably better for buyers than sellers.
