Re: For sale: 1938 Square Four Project

It has recently been on Australian Ebay, initially listed, I think, as a classified ad for $11,000 Aud. It was then listed for auction, with 24 bids up to $6,700 Aud and did not sell. You may be able to contact the seller through Ebay, the seller name is nickisme4444. Item number was 175387443460. H...

Re: Is there a good forum like this one for BSA's?

Thanks for the replies. I will give them a try. Firstly I am looking for literature. There are a couple of important parts missing, such as gearbox and primary cases, but we're hoping to find them in the other clutter somewhere. This will be a big project for me, my others have been dismantle and re...

Is there a good forum like this one for BSA's?

Hi all, it has been a long time since I last posted, sorry. I'm still an ariel fanatic, but I couldn't pass up this new opportunity. Could anyone recommend a forum like this one to help me with my latest project? 1939 BSA G14. A lot of forums I have had a look at are just nasty. I'm not on facebook,...

Re: square 4 carb conversion

When you replace the starter jet washer, observe the cross drilled hole in the jet is fully open to the well. I used two washers for mine to be unobscured. Not sure it makes a great difference, but when I was having trouble with cold starting, it was one of the things I fixed.

SQ4 Vibration

MK1. Well, not really vibration, it doesn't shake. It has been reassembled after inspection, with new rods, and travelled 50 miles. I have only had it briefly up to 60mph, but at speeds over 50 my MK1 has a slight buzz, which is tolerable. I will expect to get pins and needles sensation in my hands....

Tuning SQ4 by ear

Seeking advice. I meticulously timed my Mk1 ignition at TDC on #1. I am now doing road tests. 15 miles so far, and next step is re-tension the head at 50 miles. Beyond that I would like to know more about optimising the ignition timing. After setting the ignition with a timing disk, I am hesitant to...

Re: KH/KG Front Engine plate

Oops, I went to put the parts away and found the sides are a little different. Here is a tracing of the RHS and a couple of pics. Sorry some of the pics before are upside down, but you get the idea.
