Re: VH500
Simon With regard to the red version, yes actually! Well something like anyways. That exhaust is particularly hideous though, and a single seat showing more of the the rear mudguard would be nice. Tony Yes - thought of that, but 500 motors are a bit thin on the ground....Possible though for sure....

VH500
I like the look of the earlier single seat rigid/tele VHs but not the price. Would it be in any way feasible to buy a more cost effective later swing arm/twin shock VH and ahem!... "modify" it to look similar? Single seat perhaps? shallower mudguards? remove the fairing around the headlamp...

Re: VB 600 slight judder
Took it for another spin. Lever pulled back abot 1/2" from fully forward, Ran very well, did not appear to run hot, but judder still there. Not as bad but noiticeable. Has another look at the clutch plates, and have decided that 2 of the friction plates look borderline.I'll replace them and the...

Re: VB 600 slight judder
Thanks Gents. As mentioned, I have lowered the needle one notch thus leaning the mix out. I also ran it at possibly excess advance with the lever fully forward (tight wire advance by the by). It seemed to overheat a tad, as the exhaust which is normally chrome colour turned a shade brownish after a ...

Re: VB 600 slight judder
I have since lowered the needle to lean it out a little and the judder seems to have reduced. To clarify, when I came off the throttle, the bike did indeed seem to stumble a little. I'll ride it around a little more to verify. Another point if I may. I did the timing recently with the lever at full ...

VB 600 slight judder
At speed and off the throttle the VB 600 judders - very slightly. Not much, but discernible. I have cleaned the clutch plates and ensured the pressure plate has an even gap by adjusting the 5 springs. Incidentally a couple of the friction plates look well down - which may explain things somewhat. An...

Re: VB chaincase oil leak
Gents This is all very useful. Many thanks. I certainly do not have the tapered screw. All I have is a flat ended screw around an inch or so long which will never block up the hole on the other side. I think I'll just block the hole up in any event. The drive chain is easily lubed up without it. I w...

Re: VB chaincase oil leak
Johnny That is a good point. The screw Alan shows is defintely not tapered to a point. It seems to be the correct location though, as when I poke a wire through the screw hole, it comes out at the spout! It is a flat ended screw, so I wonder whether even if it was fully screwed in, it blocks off the...

Re: VB chaincase oil leak
Alan Yes indeed - many thanks. However, this screw was screwed right in, so perhaps I am wrong in my assumption that it the oil feed spout that is causing the trouble. I cannot see much on the inner face of the inner half of the crankcase either. No obvious oil deposits. I think I'll just have to gi...

Re: VB chaincase oil leak
Right then. It does appear that I have a rear chain oiler - well a sort of grooved spout coming from the inside of the inner chaincase which presumably dribbles oil on top of the drive chain below - see attached photo. Thank you Roger! DSCF3219.JPG However, I cannot see any signs of a screw, just a ...
