Re: E3LM Brushes

hi Bevan ; the new brushes can take a short time to "get going" i have found , it can require a short spell of higher than idle revs before the dynamo will "kick in " to life . on the commutator you want to clean between the segments as it may have a build up of debris or simply ...

Re: Carburettor leaking fuel

i lowered the float level on my amal 375 in my 58 leader as i noticed the level was right up at a point it could easily flood the engine . what i did was to turn down the float needle valve union face and check the level of float as i went , i have dropped the float by 1/4" down from an initial...

Re: Piston ring gap questions

hi Pete; i think some rings are pre gapped for a particular bore size . if you have given the bore more running clearance than the rings were gapped for then the gap wil lbe wider . i have an AJS that i bought years ago which had a partial seizure on new +.040"pistons and rings , i found it was...

Re: DVR2 regulator question

my voltage regulator is fixed to a bracket onto the original mcr2 base and is "hidden" inside it , works just fine and the metalwork of the case provides a decent heatsink i expect .
cheers

Re: VH500 running rich

my NH was running rich and had an off idle flat spot , i tried needle positions and changing the slide which made little difference , pilot jet had to remain same otherwise i didnt have the adjustment range . i changed needle jet from 106 to 105 and it now runs somewhere near how it should, so yes i...

hi Bruno ; this is what i have in my NH repro rubber battery box TAYNA ES13-6 , its 6v 13ah . it takes up the whole of the inside of the box , the lid goes on but you dont want any wires on top of battery or the lid will be pushed up too much , so come out the side with the wires .. the battery term...

Re: Brighter lights - 6v LED and halogen headlamp bulbs

hi Bevan ; ive had leds on bikes with and without voltage regulation , didnt really have any issues apart from bulbs just giving up because they were probably not much good in the first place . i had a couple of lovely cheap bright pre focus headlight leds but when one of them went out on me in the ...

Re: Might be a daft question about dynamos and batteries.

hi Dennis , with the solid state regulator fitted the voltage output will be limited to whatever the regulator is set to , which will be somewhere just above battery voltage. you have to have a higher voltage than the battery voltage in order to charge it . with the VH you will probably find you see...
