Re: Removing Square Four Mk2 Cylinder Head
I do not to remove any studs at all. The trick is obviously to avoid damage to fins. Remove the tank and the carb/inlet manifold, exhaust manifold, etc....and the nuts holding the head in place. This is 30+ nuts and the 18 on the head. You can leave the spark plugs in place and turn over the engine ...

Re: SQ4 magdyno distributor gear
Fortunately I sorted my own problem before it became too embarrassing. The washer belongs with the nut on the end of the shaft holding the timing sprocket in place. It had slipped though into the distributor space as I slid the armature out. Problem solved. Armature, brushes and connectors cleaned. ...

SQ4 magdyno distributor gear
Today I took the SQ4 to pieces to remove the magdyno and see if I could clean it up a bit to coax a few more amps out of her. I suspected that it was a bit oily inside and the ammeter was determined to remind me to give it a clean. In my haste to pull the armature out the helical gear came off and w...

Re: SQ4 Mk2 starting issues
I have always been very happy with the SU carb and I set mine up strictly following the destruction sheet with standard jets and needles. Mine will always start with a couple of kicks cold and mostly one kick when warm. As Simon says, the float height is something to check first. Are the plugs wet o...

Re: Motorcycle Cover for Red Hunter
I swear by these for in the garage https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Waterproof-Black-Motorcycle-Cover-Rain-Protection-Breathable-Vented-Tech7-4-Size/350846197923 I have several. They are nylon and fit well (ignore the poor ebay photos). They are too light weight for outdoors but the size L is perfect for ...

Re: New club Facebook page
There is a problem here judging by the number of posts in such a short time. The danger may also be that we exclude and alienate many (particularly long serving) Ariel members with a "switch" to Facebook as a consequence of trying to boost numbers. I too refuse to see my association with a...

Re: Website, does it need to be https ?
I'd say that was an issue with the security of the admin area(s) rather than https. Also, there should probably be a regular site backup going on anyway to cater for equipment failures, among other things. SG This is absolutely correct, Simon. HTTPS won't prevent the site being hacked and the site ...

Re: Quicker by bike ...
Sorry guys but this just provoked me too much. Lovely video. Sentiment in the correct place and well meaning. I commute into London by motorcycle every day so I completely agree. And so did our Mayor at time of election. So what's the problem. Well I don't mean to get political here but London's May...
