Re: Petrol tank cap seal material?
Thanks guys! Will investigate the MZ tank cap seal first but mine's a '56 bike so I need to check if the '55 and 56 tank caps differ. If so then I'll look at Viton sheet, as I've had cork ones on other bikes which have not lasted very long. Thanks for all the help

Petrol tank cap seal material?
Hi folks,
My Huntmaster petrol cap has a slight leak and, on inspection, the original seal is hard and cracked. What material is best to make a replacement please? I know normal rubber will not withstand petrol. Neoprene? Silicone rubber sheet?
Suggestions please?
Cheers, Graham

Re: 6-12v inverter
Hi,
The normal USB-type chargers for cars seem to work fine on 6 volts; I've used these to power my Garmin satnav and to charge my phone with no problems. They just reduce whichever input voltage they get to the correct 5 volts output for USB powered devices.
Cheers, Graham

Hi,
Does anyone have one of these going spare please, in usable condition? Drags are out of stock. If so then I'm happy to pay your price and postage - please send me a message.
Thanks,
Graham

Re: Ebay
I agree about eBay rates... It is an excellent means of reaching millions of people globally but they're certainly making us pay for it! One other option is using the "Sell something" option on Facebook groups; it's free (so far) and reaches a global like-minded audience. I see it increasi...

Re: Insurance
HI Rob, I've used Motorcycle Direct for my modern bike for many years and haven't had a problem (although I've never needed to claim). On the occasions I did price comparisons, they always came in with a significantly lower quote than other companies. If you decide to use them, then I've a vouchers ...

Re: what type of satnavs are we using?
I have used a Garmin Zumo 550 for years and it's excellent. It's an obsolete model now but you can buy them secondhand on eBay and I'd guess the current replacement model is as good if not better. It's waterproof and easy to use with gloves. You can download free mapping tools to allow you to load y...

Weight of 1929 550cc SV piston and pin?
Hi all, I'm posting this on behalf of Steve Sullivan, a local club member, who would like to know the weight of an original piston (including gudgeon pin) for a 1929 550cc SV engine (86.4mm dia and lower crown height than a VB piston). Does anyone have this information please - or have a piston whic...
