'57 NH petrol tank knee pads.
The tank is being re sprayed and I'm wondering how I will get the knee pads back on without damaging the paint. Hints, tips and advice will be gratefully received.

Re: petrol tank cap washer
I use thin (about .045") leather salvaged from the back of a scrapped armchair. It was still on my '56 FH when I sold it after years of service.

Thanks Pete, the piston in it had three compression rings and a very thick layer of coke on the top.

'57 NH pistons
I'm confused by the way NH pistons are advertised for sale, what is the difference between pre and post '55 pistons and who are the best vendors?
All advice gratefully received,
David.

Re: '57 NH Exhaust valve guides
Many thanks for the reassuring and helpful replies. The o.d. of the guide hole is .6251 at the top and .6251 at the bottom, so not a disaster. Once again this forum has given me the information I need. I'll be messaging single spares. Three cheers for the AOMCC
David.

'57 NH Exhaust valve guides
Exhaust valve guide rotating easily and slight up and down movement. slipped out easily once coke at the valve end was scraped off. Guide O.D. is 0.625". Draganfly show guide p/no 494-56 but no mention of size. Are oversize valve guides available? Happy New Year to all you Arielists, David.

Re: 1954 NH first proper shake down rides
I had this transmission slip problem with my '57 NH after refitting the primary drive and clutch. Problem went away after increasing the tension on the shock absorber spring.

Re: PRIMARY CHAINCASE CLUTCH SHAFT SEAL-4 stroke
I had this problem with my '57 FH and now I've got it with my '57 NH. I agree with Mick, any more oil than just enough to touch the chain gets wasted. If I can touch the chain through the filler hole and feel oil, so far as I'm concerned it is ok.

Re: '57 NH Rear wheel sprocket
The global sales sprocket arrived and couldn't be fitted because the ring that locates into the register in the hub was about .017" oversize. Went on ok after skimming to fit.The four fixing bolt holes are spot on. The bearing was not an interference fit but it has all gone together ok and work...
