Request for rear mudguard information.

When I dismantled my 1960 Ariel Arrow for restoration I discovered that the forward section of the rear mudguard had been replaced by a piece of mudguard of unknown origin. Unfortunately whoever fitted it had not really understood what he/she was doing and fitted it by bolting it through a hole in t...

Arrow wheel hub colour question

My Arrow restoration had a multitude of colours on it. I have established that the original colours were Admiralty Grey with a secondary colour of Seal Grey. Researching the items to be painted with the secondary colour Draganfly's website states: Secondary Colours Leader: Body shell, Headlamp cowl,...

Re: RAL numbers for Leader paint

Their paint may well be good quality but so is the paint I can get mixed.

My point is that charging £30 for two 25ml samples is excessive and because of that they have lost a customer.

Re: RAL numbers for Leader paint

I recently wanted the correct paint colour for Admiralty Grey and Seal Grey for my Arrow. I have used RS Paints before and rang them to ask how sure they were that the colours they supply were accurate. I had a very interesting conversation and, if I recall correctly, the person I was speaking to sa...

Speedometer repair/renovation.

I have just had my Arrow speedometer checked, cleaned, new perspex illumination window, new glass and new chrome bezel fitted. Total cost £45 with p & p. The firm was Classic Speedometers. The owner was extremely helpful and prompt. He works above his flat and has a post office next door! Classi...

Nuts and bolts supplier.

The last restoration I did a few years ago I zinc plated a lot of the nuts and bolts myself. It was tedious and time consuming. My current project is an Arrow and due to the relatively small number of nust and bolts I decided it was going to be easier to replace them rather than clean them and re-pl...

Re: Brake cam

Your post prompted me to look at my hubs. My rear hub has a similar cam but as can be seen from the attached photograph there is no spring attached to the cam just the normal springs attached to the brake shoes. Looking at the parts diagram here I do not see any spring shown either. 20200430_173702....

1960 Ariel Arrow frame question.

A bonus of being stuck at home is finally finding the time to deal with long outstanding jobs, one of which was finish dismantling my Arrow! While planning the work and establishing what parts are needed and what needs repairing I have found damage to the frame around the rear fork and engine mounti...

Re: Recommendation needed for big end repair/replacement.

Two interesting conversations this morning. Both companies very helpful and able to do the job. On price obviously it is a variable feast depending on the amount of work. Nametab said about £90 - £100 per side if the big end was fine. If the big end needed sleeving then around £140 per side. Centre ...

Re: Recommendation needed for big end repair/replacement.

Thank you for that. I will give Alpha and nametab a call tomorrow. The one advantage of having my own parts repaired is the reassembly should not present any alignment issues whereas exchange units might.

I will post the result of my enquiries tomorrow.
