Re: Balancing individual steel flywheels

Might be an idea to do a sanity check. If you have an old crankpin which you can adjust to be a sliding fit (to save having to press it in) assemble the crank and check overall balance factor.

Re: I might have found an HT3

Sammy Miller recently restored a 1957 HT3, it appears on a couple of his YouTube videos. It sold at Bonhams last November for £7300 hammer price. Sammy says: We have just restored this Ariel HT3 in our restoration workshop, all done by our expert Jim Devereux. The whole bike has been restored regard...

I might have found an HT3

Hi Gents, Not been on the forum for a while but could do with a bit of advice / knowledge. I've been put onto a possible HT3 that was last taxed in 1968. Apparently its in bits and there is also a 500 engine (not known if its an HT5). I haven't seen it yet and negotiations re price have not been sta...

Re: VHA liner installed

I finally got around to installing the VHA liner into my spare VHA cylinder. Heated cylinder, cooled the liner in a snow bank. When the cylinder was hot the liner was wiped down and it dropped in nicely with a clang as the spigot touched the cylinder. I used 3 T120 cylinders stacked to weigh the li...

Re: 1952 VHA / VCH 'ish' replica

Got all the bits bolted together in order to get an age related number. Didn't have an exhaust so the one on it is a 'replica'
Cheers

Re: Aluminium top yoke fitting

Ah.....so I think my problem is the amount of powder coat on the top of the shrouds stopping them going into the yoke.
I think I'm getting there :D

Re: Aluminium top yoke fitting

Simon
Ah....the length of my shrouds is 7 1/4 inches so that's quite a difference from yours. They came in the boxes of bits. Could be BSA? That's probably why it doesn't fit right.
Thanks

Re: Aluminium top yoke fitting

Thanks will and Simon for the info. Head bearings are correct Ariel and double nuts fit onto stem correctly. And yes it's tightened properly. What I don't get is that the parts book and drags diagrams both show function. H113-51 that sits on top of the double nuts. If the yoke sits with a gap betwee...

Re: Aluminium top yoke fitting

Roger....yes that's with it tightened up. The addition of the rubber and washers lifts the yoke up off the stem double nuts.
