Re: Speed repair

Hi, I did the same repair to the Smiths chronometric speedo on my 1954 NH350 and like Joe I could not unscrew the chromed ring that holdsthe glass in place, I think someone previously had painted the case and then screwed the ring on before the paint had dried and it had become solid, nothing would ...

Hi
I stripped and rebuilt the GB gearbox on my bike earlier this year and also have photos, I also made a cross section drawing of the box which may help you to understand the gear change mechanism, see attachment.

Re: crankpin removal

Hi
The crack in the con rod does look quite severe but sometimes surface cracks, if they are only shallow, can be polished out, this removes the point of stress and avoids the crack propagating. It may be worth a try as you may have nothing to lose.

Hi
Just another photo showing the 3 components, the other photo's did not show to much because of the reflection from the stainless steel and the chrome.

Swinging arm spindle nuts.

Hi, NH 350 cc 1954. Arrived home the other day after a ride out and discovered that one of the swinging arm spindle nuts, the large chromed and domed nuts, was missing which left the swinging arm assembly loose on its bearings, the bearings are of the phosphor bronze type and not the rubber. I can o...

Re: older driver licensing

Hello David, Thank your Dad for me, he has given me inspiration and I am sure to other aging riders as well, I'm 74 yo and often wonder whether I'm getting too old to ride but now having read your story it gives me inspiration and courage to "get out there" and ride, although it may be for...
