Re: Anti-vibration gloves for bikes

Having the same problem with my left hand I bought some anti vibration gloves with gel pads in several places in the palms. A ride on my M21 meant several days of pain and limited movement with my left hand. I do most of my road mileage on bikes rather than my car and my GS 850 and the M 21 were my ...

Re: best remedy-lighting

Hi John My Huntmaster used to charge in 4th at over 35 mph, but I found in traffic (especially when the brake light was in play a lot) that I was sitting in total darkness at traffic lights. I have fitted led's to both the head and tail / brake light and haven't had a problem since. Even to the exte...

Re: Lidl inverter welder

I'm a great fan of Lidl's tools, all come with a three year warranty. Years ago I bought a similar inverter and made a scratch tig torch for it, crude but it worked fine for thinner welding. I used an old motor brush to scratch start it without messing up the tip, very handy tool for jobs like car b...

Re: Bum Pad

Hi Simon, I've found the best foam to use is from a scrap Japanese bike seat, this is cold molded foam and very springy even when it's old.

Re: '57 Huntmaster- Engine running problems - again

One thing worth giving some thought to here. My Huntmaster charges fine under normal circumstances but in 4th gear I need to be doing 35 mph to be actually charging. On a few occasions sitting in heavy traffic with my lights on I have flattened the battery, so sitting at traffic lights I had no ligh...

Re: Non-starting VB

Once again, to check valve timing without using the marks, both valves should be rocking at TDC non firing stroke. A few minutes job to check on a side valve, even if it's just to be able to cross the possibility off the list of possibles

Re: Non-starting VB

Although there's many reasons why an engine won't run properly there's very few which stop an engine actually making an effort to run. A tea spoon of petrol down the plug hole, open throttle with no choke will start anything with a carb issue, unless of course the carbs flooding but that would be ap...

Re: burgess Fillter

I bought some pit bike filter foam off eBay a while ago and have used it for a few applications. The one I bought has two layers one fine and one coarse, I have had to "trim" the fine filter off the sandwich for one bike as it was too restrictive. The piece I bought was around 12"-14&...

Re: Lathes

I have never understood how people can live without a lathe! Remember though......... You can do a small job on a big lathe but you can't do a big job on a small lathe! I've had a Myford Super Seven for many years and it's a great machine, however there's been a number of times I've needed something...

Re: Repairing 4F crankcase

I saw this video and thought I'd give it a try, it works just like the video shows. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwyglwkZcCU&index=49&list=FL3S9VXWJTFyB6ZSUjtsTC8w I tried several test pieces including using a steel strip to re-mold a broken lug, every test went well. I had to repair a 4&...
