Re: Black Ariel identification?

W is 1928 and engine 8125 was a model B despatched to Czechoslovakia in frame W 9250. Frame W 1180 went to Toronto as a model A with engine W 2927. I doubt if there are many parts in Canada but Ariels of this period are better served than any other make so if this era of bikes takes your fancy an Ar...

Re: 1930 Model B Running Problem

In that case, when something has changed suddenly or very quickly it cannot really be wear, usually something has fallen off or broken. I would certainly be fiddling with the carb, try one of another bike. I don't know of Ariel fitting BTH mags except on early KH models, although they would fit anyt...

Re: 1930 Model B Running Problem

Hi tony, I have had a similar sensation with machine that runs fine but on a moderate steady throttle, not accelerating or decelerating, it sort of hesitates. My searches told me that it was probably running a little rich, I must admit that it isn't annoying enough to have done anything about it as ...

Re: Hartley Ariel in Auction

Re: Question about Altette horn

Not easy as the copies are really quite good. The originals will have a small triangle of Tufnol attached to the terminals with a month and year of manufacture impressed. There are of course modern copies made with 'Lucas' on them that are officially sanctioned by the trade mark owner and so are gen...

Re: Replica Speedometers

The speedos i use are made by Sigma, some are very flash and will give 0-100 mph times and many other things, a bit over the top on my 1932 side valve!

Re: Rear Wheel axle position adjustment

I wouldn't weld it, rather difficult to drill afterwards, never mind tapping it. It may be the thread on the adjuster, take it apart and find out! original thread is 5/16 x 26 Whitworth but CEI is close enough!
