Re: ARIEL VG500 Drawing

I am glad to hear that you do not intend to restore the bike. What is 'OEL'? All parts, fittings and complete pipes are available. Oil pressure gauges are a specialist repair really, apart from basic cleaning. Sealing the fittings is a matter of using plumber's PTFE tape or other thread sealant, Wel...

Re: Ariel Factory Despatch records

Sorry, I cannot tell you that as I have only just started transcribing the SQ4s into the spreadsheet and have not as yet added the destinations. I may well add them when I get back to it, which will not be until the autumn as I am out riding my bike during the summer. The quantity going to North Ame...

Re: 350 NH carburation

Nev - agreed undoubtable better but not quite as original. A Honda engine is better but only one person I know has replaced his Ariel engine with one. I use a MKII Amal on my sporty 500 , which is even better but even less original.

Bloody terrible, please give it a thumbs down, not artistic freedom but a load of pictures of bikes with Ariel stuck on the tank, I had to stop watching, too painful.

Always check the last job you did, 9 times out of 10 it is something to do with that. Best bit of wisdom I received as a young lad.

Re: Black Ariel identification?

W is 1928 and engine 8125 was a model B despatched to Czechoslovakia in frame W 9250. Frame W 1180 went to Toronto as a model A with engine W 2927. I doubt if there are many parts in Canada but Ariels of this period are better served than any other make so if this era of bikes takes your fancy an Ar...

Re: 1930 Model B Running Problem

In that case, when something has changed suddenly or very quickly it cannot really be wear, usually something has fallen off or broken. I would certainly be fiddling with the carb, try one of another bike. I don't know of Ariel fitting BTH mags except on early KH models, although they would fit anyt...

Re: 1930 Model B Running Problem

Hi tony, I have had a similar sensation with machine that runs fine but on a moderate steady throttle, not accelerating or decelerating, it sort of hesitates. My searches told me that it was probably running a little rich, I must admit that it isn't annoying enough to have done anything about it as ...
