I am wondering... did my Ariel engine once belong in something that looks like this?

Am I correct in assuming it is a 500cc? Where can I get a photo of the model, as I don't even know what it's supposed to look like.
Also, it looks like it has a cast steel cylinder head. I would really appreciate any info on my Ariel.

KIA BWC (?)
